Aras Corporation was founded in March 2000 to create practical, flexible and supportable next-generation enterprise PLM enterprise software to help companies manage their product information and lifecycle processes. Aras’ drive to develop such a solution was born out of the fact that historically, the majority of PLM projects undertaken by companies of all sizes, ultimately fail to deliver on the promised vision of a comprehensive, integrated PLM process. PLM state of the art for the past 2 decades has barely risen above simple document management or CAD file management, because of the inherent limitations in the architecture of the conventional PLM software systems and the need for each customer to innovate business practices in a vacuum. Each PLM project has been a start-from-scratch exercise, and the embedded processes hard-coded by the conventional software vendors cannot be adapted to fit endusers’ goals of the continuous improvement and process innovation.
